Keropok Lekor is the kind of snack which made from the fish with mixture of salt and flour. The snacks are high in protein because of the fish and famous at Terengganu area - East Cost of Malaysia.

Keropok Lekor is a traditional fish sausage normally consumed as a morning and evening snack. Made from a mixture of minced fish meat and tapioca flour to form a dough, it is processed into a cylindrical shape and boiled before it is fried. Its texture is fine with a crispy and soft bite into delicious Chile sauce. Nutritionally, keropok lekor are rich in protein, calcium and potassium. This traditional method of preparation usually means that the keropok lekor can only have a shelf-life of 1-2 days. Reformulation of keropok lekor by adding modified waxy corn starches; the keropok lekor can be kept in frozen up to six months with acceptable in taste and appearance. Also, oil absorption into keropok lekor after frying can be reduced.

Well, just mention to someone that you're going to Terengganu and you'll definitely hear this, "Bring back keropok lekor, can lah?"

In Terengganu, keropok lekor losong is just the superstar, the diva of all keropok lekor. I would like to recommend a place for you to actually get these fishy delicacy the next time you're going to Kuala Terengganu.

I love keropok lekor very much which i always buy from the local night market.

Having a trip to Terengganu, of course you shouldn't leave out the chance to try out the most popular keropok lekor in Terengganu. I did some research and find out Kak Yah's store is quite popular for its keropok lekor, and luckily I managed to track it for you guys.

Kak Yah store is located at the end of the road at kampung Losong. Along the way, you'll notice there are a lot of stores and shops selling keropok lekor with workers busy frying the keropok lekor to produce the most freshly fried hot keropok lekor to the customer. Wow! Even during my keropok lekor hunt, my mind keeps on convincing me that it must be very delicious!

There are two types of keropok available which is the tube-shaped that resembles sausages called "Keropok Lekor" and the cracker-shaped called "Keropok Keping" (sliced keropok). Keropok Lekor is made up of fish mostly ikan tampan, flour and other ingredients. For Keropok Lekor, it can be consumed in two ways, deep fried or boiled. Personally I prefer the deep fried version as I don't like the fishy smell the boiled version has. Different from the keropok lekor found in other place, Kah Yah's keropok lekor is more bouncy with more fish flesh which makes it more chewy.

While Keropok Keping is made up of larger tube-shaped keropok being sliced into very thin slices. Then it is dried under the sun to make it storagable. It has to be fried before consumption. Hmm...if you are lazy to fried it yourself, there are packs of keropok keping in different flavours which has been pre-fried and ready to eat available. I indeed have bought quite a lot of packs of the keropok keping including keropok keping madu, keropok keping sira berlada and others flavours for myfriends.
